Isamar Carrillo Masso has been a teacher and an advocate for women’s rights in Venezuela, Taiwan, the Czech Republic, Oman, Kuwait, and the UK. She started the Women’s Society at Bangor University with Jennifer Krase, and they brought Take Back the Night to North Wales. Her work on video games studies and women’s studies has been published in journals, conference proceedings and book chapters, and opened a conversation on the portrayal of women in media. She has also been an active advocate for the rights of mental health patients in the UK, and has published work in this area. Isamar is genderqueer and bisexual, and participates in advocacy events for LGBTQ rights. She is married to a Muslim man and they live in harmony in the UK, where they run a research and development company for medical devices, trying to change the life of people living with diabetes.
